Farewell Aquagym
It was fun at the end of our last session at Aquagym when everyone made a whirlpool. It was great to see how much progress everyone made over the week we were there.

School Leaders
It was exciting to meet the leaders today at the special assembly under the shade sails.
| We had three very proud little sisters in Room 17. Congratulations to all the new leaders - especially Piper, Will and Thomas. We will put our spelling words into the home learning books tomorrow. |

Interest has Been Germinated!
We got a great assortment of seeds in Room 17 this morning. We found even more throughout the day in the school garden and even in our lunch boxes.
There is a lot of information about seeds on the internet and I have created some links for you to follow here.
Find out how seeds spread and other interesting facts here.
This page is called the Great Plant Escape. It has fun facts and activities to do.
Some of you may have sunflowers in your gardens at home like Tanner. We are lucky that Room 15 have some beautiful ones outside their room.
Today we saw and noticed things about these plants as we made observational drawings of them. I think we will watch and wonder as the days go on, how these flowers are going to change.

Monarch Butterflies
This is the time of year for monarch butterflies. Many people are fascinated by them. There is even a group of people called the Monarch Butterfly New Zealand Trust.
They have a lot of information on their website about monarchs in New Zealand.
You can find out information about the butterfly garden at our school by going to the Butterfly Garden page on Room 19's blog.
There is a page written especially for children to read. It has clear pictures of the different stages of the butterfly's life.
Your family might be able to help you find other information on the internet about these fascinating creatures.

Seed Search
At your home can you find a large seed and a small seed?
Who will find the smallest seed? Whose seed will be the largest?
Hint: you may not find them in the garden, but in the kitchen.

Fabulous Fuchsias
I went into the gardens with my mum and dad on Friday evening and I saw a banner waving in the breeze. It reminded me of the fabulous fuchsias you had all drawn that morning.
Observational drawing helps us to see, notice, think and wonder.

Diabetes Discussion
Today we had a visit from Tina who is a Diabetes Nurse from the Diabetes Centre. She came to talk to us about diabetes so that we can understand how we can help Brooke and what he needs to do each day to keep safe and well.

Meet Richie and Dan
Our goldfish have been named Richie and Dan. Obviously we have some staunch All Blacks and Crusaders supporters in Room 17! The Halberg Awards pale into insignificance after such an honour.

Assembly
Room 13 ran the Year Three team assembly today. We sang some fun songs, heard some great stories and admired some visual language and graphs.
| We were excited to win the Heather Trophy. We have been working hard to keep our room looking great so we know we deserve it. |
Fun and Finking at Fitness
We have been learning about why we go out for fitness (as well as being a time for fresh air, a drink of water and a toilet stop).
We are working to improve cardio fitness, coordination, strength and cooperative skills. We have realised that by changing the way we play games (like the size of the space we use) we make our bodies and brains work differently.

Maths on the Move
Surveying Our Buddies.
We used tally marks to record people's choices.
You could create another survey to do with our class or your brother or sister's class. You could do this in your home learning book.

Twisting by the pool...
... sounds like fun but it's even more fun to get in - SO - remember your togs tomorrow! Our swimming time is 9.10.
What Can You Find...
under the cushions on the sofa at your house? I can nearly always find enough change (coins) to buy some milk down at the shop in the weekend. You could leave a comment telling us all what you found under the cushions on your sofa.
I enjoyed finding out what you'd like to read about on our big blue sofa this year. Of course that is just one place you can find to read something wonderful from our class library.

Nau Mai, Haere Mai! Welcome Back!
It is great to be underway in Room 17.
Our day started with the pōwhiri welcoming new staff and teachers. Everyone was so impressed by the way you demonstrated respect and manaatitanga - ka wani kē!
We have had a happy day together establishing expectations and routines. We are loving our new furniture and being together with our friends again.
