Water Cycle

What a lot of words we use are about water.
Bill Nye the Science Guy sure makes science fun. The poster you all created to show the water cycle is top-notch!
I love the way the glue dribbled on the word condensation
- it looks like it was designed to!

Can You Remember What This Was About?

Do you remember how it felt when you swished your hand around in the bean bag?

If you have a piece of polystyrene at home? It might remind you of ice - why?

Water Experiment

Today we carried out an experiment that demonstrated something interesting about water.
Can you remember what it was so you can tell your family?
Maybe if you have some food colouring you could do the experiment at home?
We will do another experiment tomorrow to see what happens when we have water of different temperatures.

Orana Park - Here We Come!

It was so exciting to get on the bus and go to Orana Park this morning. We couldn't have had a more perfect day for it! All that finger crossing you did worked.
We split into five groups and worked with an educator from Orana Park to learn all about loads of animals. We had a theme of Wonderful Water and Its Effect on Wildlife.

Drip, drip, drip

What a fun day we've had today all based around water. We worked with people from our class and our buddy class who were in our House (or one other House). Whero and Kowhai  worked together and so did Kahurangi and Kakariki.
The first activity we did was building sand structures in the sand pit. Our aim was to create a structure that would be mostly the same after a "flood" poured all over it.

Wet Playtime

I was very lucky Riley had brought some large gumboots to school today. Have a look and find out why!

Here's an interesting and surprising thing we noticed today...
The U.V. beads still had some colour sitting on the window sill

Interest has Been Germinated!

We got a great assortment of seeds in Room 17 this morning. We found even more throughout the day in the school garden and even in our lunch boxes.
There is a lot of information about seeds on the internet and I have created some links for you to follow here.
Find out how seeds spread and other interesting facts here.
This page is called the Great Plant Escape. It has fun facts and activities to do.
Some of you may have sunflowers in your gardens at home like Tanner. We are lucky that Room 15 have some beautiful ones outside their room.
Today we saw and noticed things about these plants as we made observational drawings of them. I think we will watch and wonder as the days go on, how these flowers are going to change.
